A very short fanfare with rhythmical interest in all three parts based upon a solution to a Su Doku puzzle! It is dedicated to Rob Parton, my teaching colleague at the Capital University Conservatory of Music.

Five More First Solos contains easy music for new bassoonists. The solos are a bit more challenging than those in The First Six Bassoon Solos [1218A]. The range is from low F (F2) to fifth-line A natural (A3). The piano parts are easy. Meters used are 2/4, 3/4 cut time and 6/8. In addition to whole notes, half notes and quarter notes, eighths, sixteenths and dotted rhythms are used.

No.9 Bass Line Minuet (1'15) in 3/4 meter
The First Six Bassoon Solos include easy music for new bassoonists. The solo parts are written within the octave from low F (F2) to open F (F3). The piano parts are easy, too. Rhythms used are whole notes, half notes and quarter notes. Most of the music is smooth. One piece requires staccato quarter notes; another requires tied half notes. Additional, more challenging music can be found in Five More First Solos for bassoon and piano [1218B].
No. 1 Andante (0'48") B-flat major in 4/4 meter
Ukrainian Triptych was written in 2012 at the request of Dr. Bruce Gbur who is of Ukrainian descent. The music in three panels (movements) is based on folk songs found in the collection 'Let's Sing Out in Ukrainian, Volume One' compiled and edited by Yurko Foty, published in Saskatoon, Canada by Canuk Publications, 1977. The work will be premiered at the International Double Reed Society's 2012 conference at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio on July 9, 2012.

Distant Thunder with Rain is for native American flute and standard woodwind quintet. It was inspired by and written for Michael Cox and the members of the QuintEssential Winds, all faculty at the Capital University Conservatory of Music. It was premiered by them on October 31, 2011 in Huntington Recital Hall as part of the 2011 NOW Festival of Contemporary Music. The music depicts Night, Dawn, Sunrise, Full Daylight, Hunting, Distant Thunder with Rain, Sunset, Evening and Night.
Three movement duet for oboe and bassoon. I. Acrobats (2’45) II. Lion Tamer (1’45) III. Clowns (1’50). Dedicated to the memory of the oboist and oboe maker Alfred Laubin. Mr. Laubin, was a member of the first professional wind quintet I played in. I remember him as a very thin, quiet and dignified man. He is in no way personified by the music in the work! Ten by Three (10 X 3): A Collection of Folksongs from Quebec for two instruments and keyboard. [13'00]
Based upon delightful songs and singing games from Quebec. Score and five parts: oboe or clarinet, bassoon or 'cello or bass clarinet, piano or harpsichord.
A Passacaglia for the standard woodwind quintet: flute, oboe, clarinet in B-flat, bassoon and horn in F. Composed in 2008 and slightly revised in 2016. The work eagerly awaiting it's first performance!
