We have transcribed Christian Julius Weissenborn's delightful bassoon scherzo for solo bass clarinet and chamber winds. The bass clarinet version has been transposed from the bassoon key of C into concert B-flat. The wind ensemble instrumentation is: flute, oboe, 4 B-flat clarinets, bassoon, 2 horns in F and double bass or tuba. An optional cut shortens the piece to 3'50. Weait - Little March for Small Band (2'15)

Little March for Small Band was composed for the 1962 Fourth of July celebration at the Yale Summer School of Music and Art in Norfolk, Connecticut. A few wind players prepared a "band concert" suitable for the occasion. A visiting musician, Les Thimmig, later of the University of Wisconsin, volunteered to play bass clarinet. The piece is dedicated to him. Scored for 2 flutes (2nd / piccolo), 2 oboes, 2 B-flat clarinets, 2 bassoons, 2 horns in F, Bf-lat trumpet, trombone and double bass.

Holzbauer - Divertimento for 2 horns and 2 bassoons (6'30)

Ignaz Jakob Holzbauer (1711 - 1783) composed this Divertimento in C with six short movements. This edition has horn parts in F and bassoon parts without any tenor clef. The second horn has a lot of notes below the treble staff but some higher notes are shown. We have also prepared a version of the same work for four bassoons [1007B]. Total duration 6'30.

Rossini - La Scala di Seta Sinfonia (Overture) for chamber winds (7'00)

Rossini's overture to the opera "La Scala di Seta (The Silken Ladder) is well-known to audiences and musicians - especially oboists - for whom the oboe solos are prime audition material. Weait - Two Canadian Folk Tunes for Wind Nonet (6'00)

These are arrangements of two melodies found in "Come 'A Singing Canadian Folk Songs" by Marius Barbeau, et al published in Ottawa by the King's Printer, 1974. 1. 'My Lonely Heart' was collected from Mme. Bolduc of Quebec City in 1918. 2. 'The Jolly Raftsmen' is a lumberman's song from the Ottawa River. This version of 'Jolly Raftsmen' is the first one I made. Later, I set it for 12 woodwinds as 'The Merry Raftsmen' [7905] and for woodwind quintet 'The Jolly Raftsmen' [9513].
